Living in Tromsø since 1985 Vibeke is born in the neighbour town Harstad, - what is an element of importance on these latitudes…
She passed her University law exam in 1997 with a dissertation within criminal law. In 2001 she passed a supplementary University exam within the field of expropriation and public building law, (“ekspropriasjons- og bygningsrett”).
She has had her professional practice within the administration and the management of the municipality of Tromsø. She started her career in “Byutvikling”, the administrative body for the town planning committee and the building inspection. Since 2001 she has had her employment with “Eiendomsavdelingen”, the body that runs the properties being under the administration of the municipality. From her practice she has a profound knowledge of real estate law, as well from the public side as from the private side.
Being the mother of two children she has been active in the sports club of her part of the town (Kroken idrettslag) as a coach and a member of the administrative board.
She has also been active in the political life. She is member of the Executive Board for Det Norske Arbeiderparti, (The Norwegian Labour Party) on the local as well on the regional level. The election period 2007-2011 she is member of the Tromsø city council and its executive committee (formannskapet). She is also the chairwoman of the permanent “Committee for culture, sport and adolescence”.
She has decided to end her luminous political career for an even more illustrious one, that of a practicing advocate…
